The Jonathan Williams Home Page

Jonathan Williams was born in Cairo (Egypt) in 1942. At the age of eighteen, after an expensive, and largely wasted education at Cheltenham College in England, he began to fulfil his lifelong dream of driving racing cars, starting with a Mini and progressing to single-seaters, managing to have two serious accidents along the way.

After a highly successful Italian F3 season in 1966, Enzo Ferrari invited him to join his team for 1977, an offer which he accepted. After a  disappointing  season at Maranello he moved on to drive for Abarth and then de Tomaso, relucant to leave his adopted country of Italy.

He retired in 1972, a decision which resulted in him, for the first time in his life, having to work for a living. Having obtained his pilots license some years before,  he solved this problem by agreeing to fly private jets around the world for an assortment of millionaires and multinational companies, a state of affairs that dragged on for the next twenty years.

Having sold his apartment in the south of France, he now lives in a small motor home, traveling widely, accompanied by Linda, his long suffering companion of ten years, writing and taking photographs whenever the spirit moves him.
